‘Uplifting the Local Community’

Updated: Aug 21, 2021

Littlemore & Dunston, Agape Community Feast Event (Hosted by Bethel Apostolic Life Church) in Partnership with the Afya Life Food Bank.

At Afya Life, we are passionate about working with communities in order to drive change. We have already worked to support vulnerable people in communities across sub-saharan Africa. Hunger and access to food resources are common problems affecting the low income and vulnerable people and communities all over the world, from Europe to Asia to North America and here in the UK.

2.5 million people in the UK currently rely on food banks, and this is increasing every year. For example, in 2008/2009 only 26 thousand people used food banks. This figure has increased as more families are forced into poverty each year and this will be more in the coming years due to the recent global pandemic.

We need to work together with our local communities in order to provide long-lasting and sustainable support for vulnerable people.

We are excited to announce that we will be working with the local community in Chesterfield/ Sheffield to provide a food bank event for those in need. As well as providing support, the aim of the event is to bring the community together to spark discussions and conversations between different people in the community regardless of their cultural background or race and ethnicity.

The Agape event will also host food stalls from different cultures and we will have art classes so the local people can learn new skills and experience new cultures.

But more importantly, the event will give people from the local community the opportunity to meet new people and spark new conversations.

For more information and details on the food bank, head over to our events page and get involved!
